Mogadishu, June 5 2016, The National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) condemns in the strongest terms possible the murder of a female Somali Journalist in Mogadishu on Sunday 5th of June 2016, the latest in a series of attacks against the press in Somalia. The incident happened around 2:30 , minutes after Sagal Salad Robleh
came out from her university in Hodan neighborhood. Sagal has been
working for the state run radio Mogadishu. She was confirmed dead on
spot after armed men with pistols shot her several bullets on the
chest and head. The National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ)
condemns in the strongest terms possible and calls for the Somali
government to probe the incident urgently and bring the justice the

culprits who behind the killing of an innocent female journalist. "On
behalf of NUSOJ, I am strongly condemning the assassination of Sagal
Osman Robleh and I urge the Somali security agencies to launch
urgent investigations relating to the shocking killing in a day light
and in a public place in the capital .” Mohamed Ibrahim Moalimuu the
new elected General of NUSOJ said,
Sagal Osman was a prominent and active female journalist who was a
role model for many young journalists and today we confess that we
lost a brave girl who immolated herself for the serving of our nation.
"I send my sincere condolences to the families and friends of late
Sagal Osman and ask Allah to award her to heaven in the last day,
Moalimuu added.

Late Hinda Haji Mohamed becomes the first journalist killed in this
2016 and fourth journalist were killed in Somalia last year .

We share with the sadness families and friends of late Sagal Salad and
we journalists have to stand our unity, defend our rights and work
together with harmony to achieve getting save environment in which we
can work freely . Mahir Jama Aden Chairman of NUSOJ Supreme Council
said.
