    Accomplishments of the Ministry of Constitutional Affairs (MoCA) for the months of April and May 2017

The Ministry of Constitutional Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia has put forth its accomplishments for the past two months. The Minister of Constitutional Affairs, Abdurahman Hosh Jibril had a press conference in his office to answer questions about the ministry and the work it has done thus far. Minister Hosh, along with the Director General of the Ministry Mohamed Abukar Zubeyr promised to start holding monthly press conferences with the media to update them on what the ministry has done and its plans for the future so they can update the Somali people at large.
The Advisor of Communications, Media, and Public Awareness of the Ministry Abdiaziz Abdi Haji Gobdon, read the following statements for the press.
1. April 17. The Ministry of Constitutional Affairs organized its first meeting with the Nascent Political Parties to take part in the constitutional reviewing process Campaign. The purpose of the meetings was to involve the forming Political Parties in the Constitution Review Process Campaign.
2. April 29. The Ministry of Constitutional Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia had a meeting with various Somali women organizations about the Constitutional Review Process Campaign. The meeting was intended to start a healthy and honest dialogue about the Constitutional Review Process Campaign and find ways for the women to be part of the decision making process especially the review of the constitution.
3. May 4. The Ministry of Constitutional Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia had a meeting with the two biggest umbrellas of civil society in Somalia SOCENSA and PUNSA that operate in South/Central Somalia and Pundland State respectively as well as with IIDA, which is a non for profit organization that promotes women affairs and their participation in the political, economic and social issues.
4. May 9. The Ministry of Constitutional Affairs of the Federal Republic of Somalia had a productive and well organized meeting with the Somali Youth Groups who are based in Mogadishu to take part in the Constitutional Making Process Campaign. The youth acquired an opportunity to ask the minister along with top officials from the ministry any questions and suggestions they may have for the minister.
5. May 7. The Ministry of the Constitutional Affairs had a very productive meeting with organizations that represent the people with special needs. The meeting was intended to start a dialogue between the ministry and the organizations to find ways for the disabled community to be part of the Constitutional Review Process Campaign.
6. May 11. The Ministry of Constitutional Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia had a meeting with Somali Religious Scholars who are well known and respected in the community about the Constitutional Review Process Campaign.The contributions and comments of the participants were all important ingredients to the ministry’s master plan.
7. May 14. The Ministry of Constitutional Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia conducted a consultative meeting with the Federal Member States regarding the Constitutional Review Process Campaign. The meeting which was held in Mogadishu and lasted for three days was lead and planned by the Ministry of Constitutional Affairs of the Federal Government.
8. May 16. The minister of Constitutional Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia and the ministers from the Member States held a press conference to highlight the ten point they have agreed upon which included ways to enhancethe level of participation, collaboration and consultation in order to reach an all-inclusive and consensus based decision and to conduct regular consultative meetings (in every three months or whenever there is an emergency situation), with the aim of ensuring the role of the Federal Member States in the Constitutional Review Process.
9. May 17. The Minister of Constitutional Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia H.E. Abdurahman Hosh Jibril and a team of delegates paid official visit to Nairobi, Kenya to meet with donors who support the Somali Government. The Minister presented the Ministry’s master plan to the donors.
