advertisements Captain John Bocco and Elias Maguli each scored a brace to inspire Tanzania to an emphatic 4-0 victory over Somalia at the ongoing Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup on Sunday afternoon at the National Stadium in Addis Ababa.
Bocco opened the scoring in the 11th minute when he converted from the spot after Simon Msuva was brought down by Somalia’s Abdinassir Yusuf Ahmed in the penalty box.

The Taifa Stars, who were thrashed 7-0 by Algeria earlier this week in the Fifa 2018 World Cup qualifiers, looked a rejuvenated side as they dominated possession and came close with a Said Hamis Juma freekick that went inches above the woodwork.

In the 17th minute, Maguli found the back of the net to double Tanzania’s lead when Msuva sent a defence-splitting pass that resulted in Abdallah Kibadeni’s side taking a 2-0 lead.

Somalia forward Abdikarim Abdalla Mohamed went close for the Ocean Stars but his effort went wide off the mark.

In the second half, Maguli and Bocco added a second goal each in the 53rd and 55th minute to send the Taifa Stars top of Group A, above Rwanda who defeated hosts Ethiopia 1-0 on Saturday.

Tanzania take on Rwanda on November 24 while Somalia, who are bottom of Group A, will face Ethiopia on November 25.
