In a separate development, suspected Al-Shabab fighters have shot dead
Abdullahi Mumin, an official with the central bank in Madina district.
Attackers escaped after the two attacks; however, police officials said investigations were under way as security forces were pursuing the attackers in the city.
Al-Shabab has claimed the responsibility for the two attacks.
Despite large security presence in the seaside capital, the Al-Qaeda linked Al-Shabab group continue attacks against the government and African Union forces.
The group often carries out drive by shootings, a favourite tactic for the government which stepped up its guerrilla attacks across the country.
The attacks underscore challenges facing the government which is trying to expand its rule across the country.
Somalia’s prime minister has vowed his government would oust militants from the areas still under their control before the 2016, a year the country proposed to hold presidential elections.
