Somali Independent Media Houses Association (SIMHA) has learnt that Aljazeera cameraman lost his life and Reuters photographer sustained wounds following Al Shabab attack on popular hotel in Mogadishu.
Cameraman
Mustaf Shafana was killed in second car bomb explosion that went off at
Sahafi hotel while he was covering the attack, his Reuters news agency
colleague Feisal was wounded and is nursing in hospital.
The number of Journalists killed in Somalia this year stands at three with constant threat from armed group.
Somali Independent Media Houses Association (SIMHA) calls upon media houses and Journalists to take extra caution during coverage of Al Shabaab attacks.
"No story is worth your life, Journalists should practice extra caution during coverage of attacks,” said SIMHA chairman, Hassan Ali Gesey.
Gesey sent condolences to family and friends of slain Journalist while wishing quick recovery for wounded Reuters photographer.
