- Somali Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) has announced that Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu will be closed for one day on Thursday, December 25, 2025, due to the holding of local council elections in the capital.
In a press release issued on Monday, the authority informed the public, airlines, and travel agencies that no flights will arrive at or depart from the airport during the closure.
Passengers and airlines have been advised to review their flight schedules and avoid planning travel on the day of the closure. The authority confirmed that normal airport operations will resume once the election-related restrictions are lifted, urging travelers to follow official announcements for any further updates.
Meanwhile, Somali security agencies have announced that nearly 10,000 police officers are fully prepared to provide security for the local council elections scheduled for December 25 in Mogadishu.
