The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday issued an official warning letter urging stronger facilitation of election campaigns and the smooth collection of Voter Cards, particularly in districts across the Banadir region.

In its directive, the Commission called on District Administrations to guarantee a free and enabling environment for political organizations to conduct their campaigns and for citizens to obtain their Voter Cards without obstruction.

The statement emphasized several legal guidelines, including that candidates and political organizations are legally permitted to campaign without political interference. INEC also reminded district officials that any action that disrupts the work of election staff or creates insecurity that could undermine public trust will not be tolerated.

The Commission noted that legitimate complaints submitted by political organizations will be addressed, but warned that behaviors undermining transparency or cooperation in the electoral process would be unacceptable.

Additionally, district administrations were reminded that their role is to facilitate—not hinder—electoral activities.

INEC expressed confidence in the District Administrations of the Banadir region and voiced hope for full cooperation to ensure citizens receive electoral services in an equitable, transparent, secure, and lawful manner.
