In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the government and people of Egypt expressed their sincere condolences to the government and people of brotherly Somalia and to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to all the injured.
Egypt also affirmed its full solidarity with Somalia and its total rejection of all forms of violence, extremism, and terrorism.
About 20 people were killed in an attack orchestrated by Al-Shabab militant group, which intercepted a convoy of vehicles in the center of the country. According to a Somali official, the militants destroyed wells and set fire to houses and shops in more than eight villages.
The militia also set four cargo trucks and three passenger buses fire outside the Mahasa District of the Hiran region of central Somalia.
Al-Shabaab have claimed responsibility for the attack via its Andalus radio station, saying that it killed more than twenty people and destroyed eight trucks. The group said it carried out the attack because of the involvement of a local militia known as ‘Makwuizli’, which took up arms against the movement.Egypt condemns terrorist attack on cargo trucks in the Hiran region of central Somalia

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the government and people of Egypt expressed their sincere condolences to the government and people of brotherly Somalia and to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to all the injured.
Egypt expressed on Sunday its deep condemnation of a terrorist attack that targeted trucks transporting goods in the Hiran region of Somalia, killing a number of innocent victims and injuring others.
Egypt also affirmed its full solidarity with Somalia and its total rejection of all forms of violence, extremism, and terrorism.
