The UN humanitarian agency on Monday appealed for more funding to enable its partners to scale up relief operations across Somalia. The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) also said despite the reduced humanitarian footprint due to the COVID-19 restrictions and the disproportionate funding across clusters, humanitarian partners have ramped up the COVID-19 response across the country. The government has lifted a number of COVID-19 related restrictions on movement in and out of the country, including the opening of international airports in August.

Somalia's total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has reached 3,745 as of Sunday.

The ministry of health said in a statement the country had recorded zero death the past weeks, making the number of deaths still at 99 while the total number of recovered patients increased to 3,010.

According to OCHA, at least 14 percent of the total confirmed cases were reported among health workers, negatively impacting response amid limited health-care services in the country.
