the president of Puntland Regional State H.E Abdiwali Mohamed accompanied by the Somalia Prime Minister H.E Omar Abdirashid, and Jubbaland Regional State president H.E Ahmed Madobe paid a visit to the president of Galmudug Regional State H.E Abdikarim Guuled this morning. The leaders were served with breakfast at the residence of Galmudug President where peace encouraging speeches were delivered. After the speech, both presidents met with their security commanders and instructed by 4:00PM this afternoon, security forces should be relocated to their initial bases.

After the meeting in Gaalkacyo south, the leaders had a lunch together in Gaalkacyo north and at the residence of Puntland President. Afterwards, both presidents walked through the frontlines to show their commitment to the people of Gaalkacyo, to the Somalia Government and to the regional state leaders who have left enormous tasks behind in order to part-take Gaalkacyo mediation efforts.

Security chiefs of both sides have been clearly instructed to withdraw arms from current positions to their initial bases with immediate effect and as of December 5th, 2015 at 4:00PM. Yesterday, security committee drawn from both sides butled by the Commander in Chief of Somalia’s Armed Forces was established to spearhead implementation of the four-point agreement.

As always, the people of Galmudug State through their leaders have been cooperative, constructive and forward looking in finding peaceful settlement for Gaalkacyo conflict. Today, H.E the president of Galmudug State wishes to reassure his commitment to the Somali people, the Somalia Prime Minister and to the leaders from the regional states of his readiness to facilitate implementation of the agreement holistically.
